When I was a freshman in high school my first class of the first semester was physical education (P.E.) at 7:45 a.m. Somehow, I drew the same short straw my sophomore year. How I envied the kids who enjoyed P.E. at roughly 1:00 p.m., in the daylight, with actual waves of radiant heat emanating from the sun – they had it so good.
Actually crying with laughter at this one...clearly the US approach to PE in the 80s was mirrored in the UK (I blame Thatcher and Reagan...just because I can). No wonder we both were quite happy ton run up that mahoosive hill in Siena!
Haha too funny Jarrard! I'm glad the experience extended to all NATO countries. Or maybe I'm not. It does explain tackling that hill - we were brainwashed.
My high school PE is all making sense after reading this - they were really just training us for Red Dawn (and that more than explains the interest in trying to build the neck muscles with that potential spine-destroying contraption). I thought our classes were a little traumatizing, but nothing like this. Glad I didn't have to bear crawl or knee rugby too much.

It's crazy!
Wait... I know a Pat Toohey. Want me to kick him in the shin for you?
Ha! It's probably HIM. He has no idea who I am, but yes. Like most of us he had a pretty good mullet back then.
